AQUA Engineering was asked by Metropolitan Water District of Salt Lake and Sandy to review a pre-design report and work plan completed by Draper City for the purpose of assessing and mitigating potential damage caused by the blockage of culverts along the Salt Lake Aqueduct below the Corner Canyon burn area. Our efforts included a field reconnaissance of the project area, review of the hydrologic analysis completed for the project, and evaluation of the mitigation measures which included debris racks and the construction of concrete armoring and spillway improvements at each culvert location along the Salt Lake Aqueduct within the project area. AQUA Engineering provided recommendations to the District regarding the efficacy of the proposed control measures and their impact on aqueduct maintenance efforts.
