TRANSPORTATION AND STREETS
AQUA has been extensively involved in many public works, street and boulevard projects in its role as City Engineer for Grantsville, Utah, West Wendover, Nevada and Hyrum, Utah. Our roadway design experience includes pavement design, pedestrian enhancements, rehabilitation projects, ADA improvements, parking lot and intersection design and utility coordination. We have designed showcase streets for each community with landscaped medians, decorative streetlights, signs and banners. We coordinate with state departments of transportation as necessary.
Grantsville Street Projects
Durfee Street Paving Projects
Durfee Street paving projects include the completed replacement of 2,875 feet of asphalt pavement in July 2006 between Willow Street and Mathews Street and 1.5” overlay of 4,700 square feet of existing pavement. In July 2009 1,120 feet of asphalt was pulverized, subgrade was excavated for roadbase, grade work was performed, and the asphalt was replaced between Cooley and Center Streets. An additional 750 feet of existing pavement was overlaid with 1.5” bituminous asphalt. Shoulder re-grading, street widening, roadway striping, and restoration of driveway accesses were completed as part of both projects
Willow Street Sidewalk Project
Willow Street Sidewalk Project in Grantsville Utah, was completed in 2008 and was partially funded through CDBG. The project included the construction of 2560 feet of new concrete sidewalk including the removal and restoration of several asphalt and concrete driveways, fine grading to provide smooth transitions, and relocation of utilities and mailboxes. AQUA helped the City apply for the funds, designed the project and worked closely with Grantsville City to provide construction management and ensure the City and Contractor complied with the requirements set forth by the CDBG program.
Main Street Safe Sidewalk Project
The Main Street Safe Sidewalk project involved the reconstruction of sidewalk and access ramps along several sections of Main Street in Grantsville. Work was completed along Main Street at the intersections with Hale and Bowery Streets, the elementary school mid-block crosswalk, and pedestrian safety provisions were completed at the access to the commercial area between Center and Hale Streets. This project involved coordination with the city and UDOT to ensure design and construction met their requirements.
West Wendover Street Projects
Pueblo Boulevard Beautification Project 2004-2007
The Pueblo Boulevard Beautification Project is a jointly funded project between the City of West Wendover and Federal Department of Transportation Enhancement Grant Funds through the Nevada Department of Transportation. The project consisted of the installation of sidewalk, landscaped islands, and decorative lighting along 3,400 feet of Pueblo Boulevard. AQUA Engineering helped apply for grant funds, engineered and designed the project, managed the construction and grant administration for the project.

AQUA has provided complete project management beginning with planning, getting funding through USDA, land acquisition from BLM, design and engineering, and construction management.
Airport Way/US93A Intersection Relocation 2005-2008
New Construction – Airport Way 1,500 linear feet, additional 2,000 linear feet in side roads and intersection – drainage, pavement, marking and signage. AQUA Engineering has provided complete project management beginning with planning, getting partial funding through RTC Safety Funds, land acquisition from U.S. Air Force, design and engineering, and construction management.
Hyrum Street Projects
300 South Boulevard Project
The 300 South Boulevard Project was constructed in two phases beginning in Summer 2005. Phase 1 included the construction of all underground utilities such as culinary water, pressurized irrigation and sanitary sewer. This phase was finished in the Fall of 2005. Phase 2 began in Summer 2006 and included construction of approximately 5,000 feet surface improvements. 300 South Boulevard was built as a “Showcase” roadway for Hyrum City and included raised, landscape medians and two travel lanes in each direction. The roadway required the demolition of a section of Mountain Crest High Schools parking lot along with the challenges of providing new access back into the school in several places. Another challenge of the project was the access onto SR165. AQUA was required to obtain an access agreement and permit with the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) which necessitated a traffic impact study and construction of a 1,500 foot right deceleration lane off SR165 northbound lanes onto 300 South.
300 North & 600 East Intersection Improvement Project
The 300 North & 600 East Intersection Improvement Project included widening approximately 700 feet of 300 North to provide a right turn lane onto 600 East as well as to provide better queuing and turn radius for large transport trucks that serve large industry along 300 North. As part of the project, approximately 2,500 feet of open irrigation ditch was converted to a piped system and relocated to provide sufficient room to make the intersection improvements.
300 South Roadway Project
The 300 South Roadway Project included the pulverization of approximately 2 blocks of existing asphalt, re-grading and replacement of the asphalt roadway and the intersection to increase sight distance and safety for motorists. The shoulders were also reguarded to provide positive drainage to eliminate ponding of storm water.
