Mayflower Snowmaking System
|
|
The Ventana Pump Station is one of multiple high pressure/high-capacity pump stations required to provide the Mayflower Mountain Resort / Deer Valley Resort Expansion project with raw water for snowmaking purposes. The facility consists of a cast-in-place concrete structure partially bunkered into the mountainside just above Highway-40 across from the Jordanelle Dam. The facility will be equipped with (10) 400 horsepower vertical turbine pumps with a total pumping capacity of over 10,000 gallons per minute (gpm) and a total dynamic head of over 600 pounds per square inch. With potential surge pressures exceeding 800 psi, the station is equipped with high performance materials and equipment, including 600 lb. flanged mechanical connections. AQUA was tasked with creating a hydraulic model of the pump station so that hydraulic transient events could be evaluated and the equipment and materials properly selected for the anticipated duty conditions. AQUA is also serving as the Engineer of Record for the project and is also managing the overall procurement of equipment and materials in collaboration with the Owner and General Contractor. As of February 2024, site construction is underway with the pump station structure anticipated to be completed in the Summer of 2024. Facility startup and commissioning is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2024, pending timely delivery of all materials and equipment.
