Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion and Infrastructure Improvements
|
AQUA has provided ongoing engineering services to Eagle Mountain City for the planning, design, and implementation of major wastewater infrastructure improvements supporting the City's rapid growth and long-term utility needs. These projects encompass treatment plant expansion, collection system upgrades, hydraulic capacity improvements, and strategic planning for future wastewater treatment and effluent management.
AQUA served as the design engineer and construction management representative for the expansion of the City's wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), increasing treatment capacity from 1.2 million gallons per day (MGD) to 2.4 MGD. The expansion is designed to accommodate projected population growth while improving treatment reliability, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. To support collection system capacity and improve conveyance to the treatment facility, AQUA designed and implemented a new gravity sewer influent lift station. The approximately $2 million project will enhance system reliability and provide critical infrastructure needed to manage increasing wastewater flows. As part of the City's long-term wastewater planning efforts, AQUA is leading the preliminary design of a new 5.0 MGD headworks facility. The proposed improvements will provide increased screening, grit removal, and preliminary treatment capacity to support future plant expansions and continued growth throughout the service area. In addition to facility design services, AQUA has prepared multiple planning and facility studies evaluating projected population growth, sewer system demands, wastewater treatment alternatives, and long-term effluent management strategies. A key component of these evaluations focused on the City's existing Rapid Infiltration Basins (RIBs), which have experienced declining performance. AQUA's analysis identified operational and infrastructure improvements to restore RIB functionality while also evaluating additional disposal and reuse alternatives. The studies examined expansion opportunities including new Rapid Infiltration Basins, seasonal and winter storage facilities, and potential Type I and Type II water reuse applications. These recommendations provide the City with a roadmap for sustainable effluent management while maximizing future water resource recovery and beneficial reuse opportunities. Through a combination of facility planning, treatment process design, collection system improvements, and water reuse evaluations, AQUA continues to help Eagle Mountain City build resilient wastewater infrastructure capable of supporting one of Utah's fastest-growing communities. |
