In 2011, AQUA was retained by the Heber Valley Special Service District to upgrade the treatment facility. The project consisted of a brand new facility to treat part of the flow that would be sent to a rapid infiltration basin since the valley was closed to any wastewater discharge. The existing plant consisted of a lagoon treatment system that used treated effluent for agricultural land irrigation in the summer. The new treatment system consisted of an IFAS system called STM Aerotor and disc filters for tertiary treatment.
