Central Water Reclamation and Resource Recovery Facility Expansion
AQUA Engineering partnered with the Town of Johnstown and its CMAR team to plan, design, and construct an affordable, easy-to-operate wastewater treatment plant expansion that meets current and future regulations. The project includes a new influent pumping station, headworks building, flow equalization, advanced biological treatment with nutrient removal, a membrane bioreactor (MBR) system, UV disinfection, upgraded biosolids handling, and modernized electrical and control systems, along with decommissioning the existing lagoon.

The new upgrade and expansion will include the following components:
  • New influent self-flushing pumping station
  • New headworks building with preliminary screening, grit removal, and flow monitoring
  • Flow equalization
  • Advanced biological treatment processes capable of secondary treatment and biological nutrient removal (BNR, nitrogen and phosphorus removal)
  • Membrane bioreactor (MBR)
  • UV disinfection system
  • Biosolids handling improvements for treatment and storage
  • Upgraded electrical and instrumentation and controls systems
  • Repurposed lagoons into a resource recovery facility
