White Rock Water Resource Recovery Facility Wastewater Treatment Plant

Built in 1966, the Los Alamos County White Rock Water Resources Recovery Facility (WRRF) served the County for more than 50 years. Due to the facility's age and condition, Los Alamos County initiated the replacement of the existing WRRF with a new facility. Bohannan Huston, Inc. (BHI) and our team of wastewater specialists worked closely with County staff to develop a reliable, efficient, operator-friendly, and cost-effective WRRF designed to meet the County's treatment needs for the next 50 years. Building on previous studies completed for the County, our team:
  • Incorporated value engineering concepts to optimize the recommended treatment process, including an oxidation ditch configuration.
  • Designed the facility to achieve Class 1A reclaimed water quality, supporting the County's long-term goal of expanding water reuse.
  • Repurposed existing facilities where feasible and minimized design, construction, and operational costs, reducing project waste and lowering overall construction expenditures.
