Upper Freeze Creek Well

Emigration Improvement District provides potable water to the residential areas in upper Emigration Canyon. AQUA helped the district expand its distribution and fire protection capabilities in 2007 and they called on AQUA again when extended drought conditions caused the district’s wells to lose capacity. We provided civil design for a new well, access road, and ancillary structures. AQUA also served as the project manager; coordinating funding administration with the Utah Division of Water Resources, permitting with Salt Lake County, and plan approval with the Utah Division of Drinking Water. The well portion of the project consisted of drilling, completion, development, and test pumping of a 12-inch cased municipal production well to a depth of approximately 1,140 feet below land surface. Although the well was capable of producing over 600 gpm with less than 5’ of drawdown it was initially equipped with a submersible pump and motor capable of producing 260 gpm at a setting of 1,080’.
